Our graduate scheme is very wide ranging. With such a broad range of roles available, our scheme isn’t restricted by any specialisms. It’s more about you and what you can bring to the company.

A future in science
If you have a scientific background, the opportunities at AWE are extremely diverse. At the start of the two-year programme, you’ll join a department where you will get the chance to apply and develop the knowledge and skills you gained at university.
The content of the programme varies greatly depending on the specific area you join. It’s possible that you’ll do a placement in one or more areas of the business. You may be able to study for a relevant Masters or PhD if it fits with our business needs. Likewise, with our help, you can gain professional accreditations such as Royal Society of Chemistry and Institute of Physics.
A focus on engineering
The size and diversity of our business creates many opportunities for engineers. As part of the two year graduate programme, we encourage you to undertake some placements across different areas of the business; giving you experience of both practical and strategic projects. We are interested in your personal and professional development and can help you gain professional accreditations with the Institute of Mechanical Engineering and Institute of Chemical Engineering amongst others.
Support in business services
Our functions include those areas which support the programme and operational needs of AWE on a daily basis. They cover every area from Commercial, Environment, Safety and Health (ESH), Finance, Human Resources, IT, Project Management and Supply Chain. Join us and you'll support the company's mission and ensure our activities meet legal and customer requirements, no matter which function. You'll help develop efficient and effective strategies, polices and processes and provide a framework for maintain a safe and secure organisation.
