Haydn Clulow, Director Site

Haydn joined AWE in February 2013. He is responsible for 3500 staff and contractors who deliver the Company's infrastructure, equipment and shared services. This operation includes maintaining and running current facilities, equipment and services, leading investments in future capabilities both capital and plant/equipment, ensuring regulatory compliance and decommissioning/waste operations and delivering Information Technology, Logistics, Security and Shared Services.

Haydn's early career focused on HR and Transformation within the automotive sector, which included Bentley Motor Cars. In 2003 he joined BAE Systems as HR Director for Submarines. After 4 years in this position he accepted the challenge of a life time to become Operations Director of the Submarine facility in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria. He was responsible for the manufacture, construction and commissioning of the Astute Class nuclear submarine. Haydn was able to blend his unique capabilities and experience of the submarine team with his experience, tools and techniques from the automotive industry and apply them to great effect in the complexity of building nuclear submarines.

Haydn's First degree is from Leeds University followed by a Rolls Royce sponsored MA in Management and Organisational Psychology from Lancaster. Before taking his degrees Haydn spent two years in voluntary service in the Philippines.

Haydn lives in Hampshire with his wife and family. He has 5 children and 3 grandchildren. In his younger days he was a keen basketball and football player but now cycles; most of all enjoys getting out and about on the open road on his much loved motor bike. Haydn is an accomplished musician playing both the piano and guitar.
