Tony Mather, Chief Information Officer (CIO)
Tony is responsible for AWE’s sizeable technology change portfolio that is focused on modernising and bringing new capability to AWE. The information and technology agenda is substantial and will be a key enabler in how AWE transforms for the future and creates the modern working environment that AWE needs going forward.
Prior to joining AWE, Tony was the Business Transformation Director at the Musgrave Group, a privately-owned company that operates in the food retail and wholesale sectors with annual revenues of approximately €5Bn. He was responsibility for all information exploitation, technology as well as the transformation of business processes across the group. Before that he was CIO at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office where he was a Board member and led a series of transformation initiatives.
Tony has spent over 30 years working in a number of roles, both in the public and private sectors. He has worked in different industries including Insurance (Friends Provident), Media (Clear Channel International), Transportation (British Airways), FMCG (Pepsi), Retail (Safeway Stores plc) and Industrial (The BOC group).
Tony has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Surrey University and an MBA from Kingston Business School.
Tony lives in Surrey with his wife and 3 children. He is a skydiving coach and also enjoys beekeeping, cooking and running marathons.
