Fun events

We run a series of exciting events and demos to make science and engineering fun at every level of the curriculum.

Teams of our graduate trainees and apprentices put together competitions and challenges which are designed to inspire the great minds of the future.

We  run engineering challenges for pupils at secondary level. Our graduates put on a tougher challenge for these year 9 pupils. The tasks set for these competitions rely on mathematical skills and great team work. The latest challenge saw students design and build a gravity car.

Often engineering is perceived as a male dominated career but we firmly believe it is great a career for anyone with an interest and aptitude for the subject. We put on and take part in a range of activities to raise the profile of engineering as a career which is equally suited to girls.

Take a look at our popular girls engineering challenge, which is run by a team of AWE apprentices. Working closely with educational charities  we deliver a series of career assemblies to raise the profile of engineering and technical careers for girls.

AWE graduates & apprentices worked closely with the educational charity West Berkshire Education Business Partnership to deliver fun packed days of STEM activities across Hampshire & Berkshire Schools. Take a look to see how students were inspired to consider careers in science.

At sixth form level our graduates organise an A level science challenge and we also work closely with local sixth form colleges to deliver career carousel events.

STEM day at Queen Mary's College, Basingstoke

Around 150 students from Queen Mary’s College in Basingstoke took part in a range of interactive demonstrations which our team put on as part of a career carousel day to raise the profile of STEM subjects.
